It
all began in May, 1994 when I made my first cart for a
friend. John's truck looked like many other
electrician's vehicle-total chaos! Like all
friends, I wanted to help him organize his truck and
straighten out the wire mess in his van. So, I got
thinking about a solution and came up with the Smart
Cart®. John became more organized and ended up saving
more money and time on every job. I realized that I was
on to something. This is when I decided to patent the
Smart Cart®.
I believed that I had
an outstanding product, and my friend confirmed it
eleven months later when he told me that he pulled 12
wires of 12 THHN wire by himself into a 3/4"
conduit 80 feet without ever walking back to the cart a single
time. The Smart Cart® is not just a two wheel cart. The
uses of it are endless. With its versatility and
adaptability, the Smart Cart® can do many jobs.
The brains behind the
Smart Cart® are the modular removable wire racks that
allow you to carry various wire gauges on an individual
rack, or multiple racks, to your job. Simplicity of my
carts insure quick rack changes to customize your cart
to meet specific project needs. Size is important with
carts on a job; ours are narrow to fit through almost
every door fully loaded.
Adaptable best
describes the Smart Cart® with all of the wire handling
abilities that it offers an electrician. The carts are
designed with the knowledge of the rugged environment
where they are used, to enable the user many years of
quality and time saving service.
For the rest of the
story:
A certain electrician
attended and bought a HCG SmartCart® from the 2003
Minneapolis Expo. This same electrician drove 150
miles (300 miles round trip) to attend the 2005
Minneapolis Expo for the sole purpose of thanking Bill
Campbell for two things. First to thank him for
creating the SmartCart® and second, to thank him for
sharing it with the rest of the world. This
electrician was 35 years in the business and now by
using the SmartCart, his estimates of 11 hours of work
take him only 8 hours and he comes home less tired and
more rested than before.
A local network
contractor had an out of town to do and so bought an HCG
SmartCart. He had bid for 2 long weekends for
himself and 3 other workers. It saved them setup
time between sets. The setup time diminished to
almost zero. He found that he was able to complete
that job in one weekend, opening the following weekend
for another job! It saved him 6 hours on Friday
and 12 hours both Saturday and Sunday for a four man
crew. It saved him 30 hours for for 4 guys.
Thus he saved himself 120 hours of work. With a
conservative burden rate of $40 per hour, this is a
total savings of $4800.00. He had purchased one
HCG for $600 and 2 RDDs (additional racks) for an extra
amount of $230. Now, $4800 - $830 for an immediate
profit of $3970. But wait he still owns the
SmartCart® HCG, which means he will continue to save for
20 years or more.
This is the way our
equipment serves people. The above are just a
couple of many real life experiences.
